In this article we explain the steps you need to take when you have already clicked on "reboot and start" and your PC booted into a FixMeStick scan, but on your screen you see a pop up error message that says: Incompatible Hard Drive Detected.
INDEX:
Your computer may have either Intel Optane Memory or an Intel Optane SSD. The two technologies are similar, but have some important differences.
Intel Optane Memory enables a computer to store the most frequently used data from a drive much closer to the processor. This allows your computer to run faster and more efficiently. Intel Optane Memory itself is not an actual storage device, but can be paired with any SATA based hard disk drive, solid-state hybrid drive or solid-state drive to speed up your system.
Intel Optane SSDs (or solid-state drives) are storage devices built upon the same technology as Intel Optane Memory. These can be the stand alone storage device of your system, or they can be paired with other storage devices.
FixMeStick is incompatible with either form of Optane. FixMeStick runs on a Linux-based OS, and Optane has not been designed to run Linux operating systems. If your computer has an Optane SSD paired with another type of drive, we may still be able to scan some of your files. However, any data that resides on your Optane drive will not be scanned.
You can find more information about Optane on the Intel website:
RAID is a type of storage solution that involves spreading and storing data across multiple disks which act as one, mirroring the data on one or more disks, or a mix of both. There are several “levels” of RAID, each of which has its own way of storing data. RAID creates fault tolerance (the ability for a drive to continue working even after a component has failed), increases performance, and decreases the probability of data loss. However this makes it more difficult for FixMeStick to mount these drives, depending on how they are set up and which level of RAID you may have.
To learn more about the different RAID levels you can check out this article:

As mentioned above, while FixMeStick isn’t inherently incompatible with RAID, FixMeStick is not able to scan certain RAID disks depending on your setup. We suggest contacting our amazing support team to give you a hand and troubleshoot any issues you may be having during your scan:
