In this article, we explain how to start your FixMeStick on a Surface Pro. The FixMeStick is compatible with Surface Pro 2, 3, and 4. If you are running a scan on a Surface Pro 4, you will need a wired mouse and keyboard to complete the scan successfully.

Starting your FixMeStick on your Surface Pro
1. Shut down your Surface.
2. Insert your FixMeStick into the USB port on your Surface.
3. Press and hold the volume-down button on Surface.
4. While holding down the volume-down button, press and release the power button.
5. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.
6. From here, the FixMeStick will start. You will see our logo screen appear as pictured below.
- If your computer screen stays black upon boot up, click here.
- If your computer screen stays black with white text on it upon boot up, click here.
- If your computer screen stays black with a blinking white cursor in the corner upon boot up, click here.
- If your computer boots into Windows, click here.
- If your computers stays frozen on our logo screen upon boot up, click here.
7. After our logo screen appears, your scan will begin. Generally a scan can take between one to a few hours.
- When the FixMeStick has completed the scan, you will receive a notice to exit FixMeStick and restart your computer. If your scan froze in the middle and did not complete, click here. If you are having issues after a scan, please visit our Knowledge Base page for post-scan issues by clicking here.

1. Shut down your Surface.
